STEAM Night at Valley Park Elementary was more than just an evening of experiments and activities. It was a celebration of curiosity, creativity and community coming together.

Families filled the elementary gymnasium as students explored hands-on stations focused on science, technology, engineering, art and math. From creating oobleck and testing engineering challenges to experimenting with chromatography and coding activities, students weren’t just learning about concepts, they were experiencing them firsthand. Events like these bring learning to life in ways that stay with students long after the night ends.

At Valley Park, Limitless Learning means giving students opportunities to think critically, solve problems, collaborate and explore their interests in meaningful ways. STEAM Night reflected that vision by encouraging students to ask questions, explore through experimentation and discover how learning connects to the world around them. Whether they were building, testing, mixing or creating, each activity helped students see how excitement and discovery connect directly to classroom learning.

Assistant Principal Kaily Butz, who helped organize the event, shared, “STEAM Night is such a special opportunity for our students and families to learn together in a fun, hands-on environment. Watching students get excited about experimenting, creating and exploring reminds us that learning can happen everywhere, not just in a classroom during the school day. Events like this help build curiosity, confidence and connections across our school community.”

The event also highlighted the power of community in education. Families learned alongside their children, staff members created engaging experiences and volunteers helped make the evening meaningful for everyone involved. The gymnasium was filled with laughter, conversation and moments of discovery.

Valley Park Elementary would also like to thank the Missouri Department of Conservation, Parents as Teachers, faculty members and the student volunteers who helped run stations and support the event throughout the evening. Their time, energy and dedication helped create an engaging experience for students and families across the community.

Events like STEAM Night help strengthen the connection between school and home while showing students that learning can be creative, engaging and fun. They also reflect Valley Park’s commitment to preparing students for the future by encouraging innovation, curiosity and real-world problem solving from an early age.

Most importantly, STEAM Night showcased what makes Valley Park special. It brought together students, staff and families as one community focused on supporting children and celebrating learning together.
