Valley Park High School students toured the Mid-America Carpenters Union training facility on yesterday and learned about pursuing a career in the unionized trades. They discovered awesome opportunities available to jumpstart a trade career and earn money while gaining hands-on experience through apprenticeships. During the tour, they explored training facilities for multiple skilled trades, including millwrighting, floor-laying, and carpentry.

Valley Park High School students braved the chill yesterday to explore Triton territory at UMSL. The tour highlighted UMSL's exciting opportunities, including the new School of Engineering and gave students a chance to explore campus life by visiting dormitories, dining facilities, and the Rec center (with a pool!). #VPPride

🎓Every one of us has had that one teacher who changed everything. Their impact often goes untold, but before we graduate, we wanted to make sure they know just how much they mean to us. 💙Across the district, teachers were invited to a special podcast with our director of communications. But before recording, they got a surprise: a senior walked in to personally share heartfelt gratitude for the life-changing impact they’ve made. 🌟

This week’s wintry weather has created particularly challenging road conditions throughout our region. Despite the dedicated efforts of our city crews to clear and treat roads and our phenomenal district staff working tirelessly to prepare our facilities, the lingering icy patches, rough roads, and freezing temperatures have made travel unpredictable and challenging for many. With additional inclement weather anticipated during the morning commute and considering the already hazardous road conditions, we have made the difficult decision to close school on Friday, January 10, 2025, out of an abundance of caution. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we’ve navigated these challenging weather and road conditions this week. We remain hopeful for improved conditions in the days ahead and look forward to welcoming everyone back to learning on Monday. Stay safe and warm.

We are thrilled to welcome everyone back as we kick off the 2025 semester tomorrow, Thursday, January 9th! School will be in session as scheduled, and we are excited to see our students back in the classrooms, ready to learn and grow. A special thank you goes out to the road crews of Valley Park and our incredible Valley Park School District custodial and maintenance teams. Their hard work and dedication have ensured that our roads, parking lots, and facilities are safe and ready for a smooth return to school. We look forward to an amazing start to the semester and can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!

Due to bitter cold temperatures, hazardous road conditions, and the potential for refreezing, the Valley Park School District will be closed tomorrow, January 7, 2025. ❄️
