Graduation is always a milestone, but at Valley Park School District, it’s something truly extraordinary. For many of our seniors, this isn’t just the end of high school. It’s the final step in a journey that began right here on the same campus when they were preschoolers.
Valley Park is one of the few districts where students grow up in one place, from tiny learners to confident young adults. That unique setup gives our staff, families and community the incredible opportunity to cheer them on through every stage. We’ve watched them shine in elementary talent shows, grow through middle school field trips and now we get to applaud as they walk across the graduation stage.
"I still remember when their biggest worry was losing a tooth or finding their lunchbox," said Stacy Castro, kindergarten teacher. "Now they’re off to change the world and I got to watch the whole journey from the same campus!"
Graduation here feels like a family celebration. It’s not just about grades or test scores. It’s about the friendships that started on the playground and lasted through the years. It’s about the teachers who knew them as curious five-year-olds and now see them leading clubs, earning scholarships and stepping into their futures. Together, we’ve laughed, overcome challenges and celebrated victories while watching these students grow into confident and capable young adults.
The Class of 2025 is a standout group. They’ve earned more than $2.5 million in scholarship dollars. Thirty-seven percent qualified for A+ Scholarships, and 85 percent earned a WorkKeys certificate. Eight students received the Seal of Biliteracy, five earned Bright Flight Scholarships, and together they completed 533 college credit hours through dual credit and dual enrollment courses.
During the ceremony, Commencement Speaker Zach Turner shared a message that resonated with students and families alike.
"You don’t need to have it all figured out. Not today. Not next year. Not even five years from now. Life isn’t a straight line. It’s a winding path full of twists, turns, and unexpected detours. And that’s okay. Just keep moving. Be kind. Be dependable. Don’t burn bridges. Stay open to growth. The road ahead might not always make sense, but it’s yours, and every step you take is part of the story you’re meant to write."
Congratulations, Class of 2025. No matter where life takes you, you’ll always have a home at Valley Park.
