We’re excited to celebrate this year’s BASF STEAM Mini-Grant recipients, a wonderful opportunity for Valley Park School District educators to bring creative, meaningful learning to life in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math.

Thanks to the generosity of our community partners at BASF, $2,500 in grant funding will help teachers turn innovative classroom ideas into reality:

Mary McKelvey, VPES Art Teacher, for printmaking supplies. Printmaking offers a unique, engaging, and hands-on way to teach fundamental art concepts while developing crucial creative and critical thinking skills.

Kaily Butz, Director of Parents as Teachers at VPES, for new learning materials to support our continually growing Parents as Teachers program.

Rachel Schlotzhauer, VPMS Science Teacher, for supplies to bring back the always-popular Pumpkin Exploding Project!

Zach Turner, Secondary PE/Health Teacher, for replenishing equipment for Adventure Pursuits, including fishing, archery and other outdoor skill activities.

Kasey Sindel, VPMS Science Teacher, for an inventive project that lets students build and tune their own radios from the ground up.

Caitlin Houston, VPHS Spanish Teacher, for art and music materials to make learning Spanish more interactive, creative and full of culture.

We’re deeply grateful to BASF for continuing to empower our educators and students through these innovative, meaningful grants.
